Bringing Bronze to Life

There is no higher compliment than to have his work inspire memories, emotions, and sometimes tears.

David Paul Venell began his sculpting career in 2004 with no formal training in the medium. His first piece, "Jungle Patrol," was a struggle from the clay maquette to the finished bronze — but it sparked a passion that has driven him ever since.

As a tribute to the Marines who have served, Dave donated four of his first sculptures to the National Museum of the Marine Corps at Quantico, Virginia.

Having served in the military and worked various military-related jobs throughout his career, Dave brings a work ethic and attention to detail that is evident in every sculpture he creates. Each piece begins as a vision, shaped by hand in clay, then cast in bronze through the centuries-old lost-wax process.
